Internal Medicine

Pet parents bring their pets to our Internal Medicine Department
for many reasons

Just as your own primary care physician may refer you to the care of a specialist from time to time, your primary veterinarian may feel your pet needs a SFAMC internist to help diagnose and treat a complicated medical problem.

While in some cases, your veterinarian may be able to consult with a SFAMC internist about your pet's care, in other cases it is best to refer you and your pet to the SFAMC Internal Medicine Department for more advanced diagnostics and treatment. Our board-certified internists may have access to specialized diagnostic modalities and/or treatment options that are not available to your primary care veterinarian.
