Zoological Companion Animal
Dr. Amanda Wong is a San Francisco native who graduated from the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine in 2018. She completed a private practice rotating internship at VCA San Francisco Veterinary Specialists and an academic specialty avian/exotics internship at the University of Guelph Ontario Veterinary College. She practiced as a relief veterinarian in small animal emergency, general practice, zoo, and exotic capacities in the San Francisco Bay Area prior to completing her residency in Zoological Companion Animals at the University of Illinois. Concurrent to her residency, Dr. Wong completed her Master of Veterinary Science degree by researching diagnostic testing modalities in bearded dragons experimentally infected with Nannizziopsis guarroi. In 2025, she became a board-certified diplomate of the American College of Zoological Medicine.
Dr. Wong was a staff veterinarian at the UC Davis Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital’s Companion Exotic Animal Medicine and Surgery (CEAMS) Service prior to joining SFAMC. Dr. Wong is thrilled to return home to San Francisco to expand access to care for ZCA species. When she is not at work, Dr. Wong loves learning new recipes, traveling, and spending time with her family.
