MARICHRIS NARIO
DVM
Emergency
Dr. Nario earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Physiology from UCLA in 2010 and went on to complete her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at Western University of Health Sciences in 2019.
Growing up in a third-world country where veterinary care was scarce and animal welfare was often overlooked, Dr. Nario made it her life’s mission to advocate for those who cannot speak for themselves. After moving to the United States, she dedicated herself to providing compassionate, high-quality care to animals in need.
As an Emergency Veterinarian, Dr. Nario finds the greatest joy in building meaningful connections with both pets and their owners. She has a particular interest in public health and public policy within veterinary medicine, viewing it as a crucial yet underrepresented area in the field. She also has a strong passion for ophthalmology and trauma medicine.
Outside of the hospital, Dr. Nario remains deeply committed to community service, providing wellness and urgent care for pets of the unhoused population in San Francisco and San Mateo counties. Her personal interests include cooking, gardening, road biking, kayaking, and indoor rock climbing. She’s also an avid fan of interior design, British TV, and a good reality show.
At home, Dr. Nario shares her life with a lively group of pets: two guinea pigs (Angelica and Eliza), three dogs (Goose, Turkey, and Marquis), and four cats (Godric, Squab, Ducky, and Kramer).
She is an active member of IVECCS, RECOVER CPR, AVMA, CVMA, SFVMA, the San Mateo County Health Veterinary Wellness Program, and VETSOS. During her undergraduate years, she also contributed to publications on amphibian audiology.
