Critical Care

Michael Sahagian, VMD, Diplomate, ACVECC, is a Board-certified Specialist in Veterinary Emergency & Critical Care. He joined the SFAMC team in 2026 to help found the Critical Care service.

Dr. Sahagian earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Boston College in 2015. He then completed a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree at the University of Pennsylvania in 2019. Following this, Dr. Sahagian completed a small animal medicine and surgery internship at Red Bank Veterinary Hospital and an emergency and critical care residency at Animal Medical Center. After which he worked in private practice in Utah before relocating to the Bay Area.

Dr. Sahagian enjoys many areas of veterinary medicine. He has special interests in mechanical ventilation, trauma, and hemodialysis and extracorporeal therapies for immune mediated diseases and toxins.

Outside of work, he enjoys camping, hiking, and skiing, as well as spending time with his partner and beloved dogs.
