The Zoological Companion Animal (ZCA) Department at San Francisco Animal Medical Center provides primary, referral, and emergency veterinary care for birds and exotic companion animals. Our team understands that every species has unique medical, nutritional, behavioral, and husbandry needs, and we tailor care accordingly.

The department is led by Amanda Wong, DVM, MS, DACZM, the only board-certified specialist in zoological companion animal medicine practicing in San Francisco. With specialized training and experience in exotic animal medicine, our team is equipped to provide compassionate, comprehensive care throughout your pet’s life.
